We settled into a leather high-backed booth in a darkly lit supper club. One of my favorite digs, my family took me out for a recent birthday dinner.
My son, the epicurean that he is, frequently gives his two tomatoes on what he thinks of a meal, the service etc. But being a kid, we usually freqent kid-friendly dining.
He bobbed his head underneatht he table and returned quickly to the celebration up top.
In all seriousness he said, "You can tell this is a really good restaurant because this is the first place that [I've ever seen] doesn't have gum stuck to the bottom [of the table]."

That sounds like the first line of a STELLAR foodie review. :-)
That's as good of a diner test as any.
It's so good to read anything from you.
Epicurean.
Great word.
Welcome back.
I don't believe you mentioned your birthday before. Well,
HAPPY BIRTHDAY!
You know, there aren't enough dimly lit supper clubs. Too many cookie cutter standard restaurants, though.
Miss Britt...I agree! This kid was a gourmand as an infant!
Kim, Yami...it's great to be back. TY.
Randy, I'll let him know you agree!
Tammy, thank you! And you're right I didn't mention it. My birthday is on April 1! You are an astute reader.
AJ, I LOVE supper clubs...so Sinatra/Ava Gardner. I always wish I lived in that era and lifestyle. Love it.
Sorry to have missed your birthday. I hope you enjoyed yourself at the restaurant. You have a very astute boy there Brenda.

Mel.....ahh great minds think alike.
